upcoming: PEAK OIL SEMINAR with Chris Skrebowski
“spiralling petrol prices are the greatest worry of my political life”
- John Howard, The Age, 1st August, 2006.
The City of Yarra invites you to a FREE Seminar.
With demand for oil rising globally, particularly from China and India, the frenzied search for new oilfields has largely come up empty.
Chris Skrebowski from the Energy Institute, London (and editor of Petroleum Review) will speak about ‘Peak Oil’.
`Peak Oil’ is the theory that after half the world’s oil has been drilled, oil prices will spiral out of control.
As the world’s oil supplies continue to diminish, the profound effects will be feltacross many areas of daily life, particularly transport and food.
Chris will discuss the implication of reduced oil availability and the ways that communities and governments can reduce their vulnerability.
